At Your Service...

It occurred to me today that the Tenerys et al are a varied and service oriented group. Let me explain...

"Like a good neighbor, Justin is there" to sell you insurance (Congrats take two to Justin as he just passed his second exam!). He will soon be an insurance salesman for State Farm.

D.T. has "Your best interest at heart" offering the best loan product when you are ready to buy or refinance!

If you need any public relations expertise, Kaitlin is "the woman"! She majored in PR at UGA and also can tell you everything you want to know about art history (her minor)! Seriously, she is the speech and communications guru!

Speaking of speech and communications, that was Josh's major also and now he is adding more skills to his repetoire. A big "High Five" goes to Josh as well! He has just been hired by Edward Jones and is studying to take the Series 7 and then the Series 66 exams to sell securities and become a Financial Advisor. Got money? See Josh!

Is it a technology question you have? Ask Luke and Al. Luke's a consultant with Kroll Ontrack, a division of Kroll handling everything from computer forensics (James Bond kinda stuff!) and electronic discovery to data recovery. Al is mostly versed in the Windows server and systems arena.

And last but certainly not least we have our two educators, quite likely the most influential of the group! Jill, Luke's fiance, is an Assistant Principal and former fifth grade teacher. Katie is the school counselor at Scales Elementary in Brentwood, TN. Contact them if you have kid questions!

One down and one to go. Congratulations to Justin on passing the first of his tests! He is now certified in Property and Casualty Insurance. Soon he will be a State Farm Insurance salesman. Way to go Justin!

Today is our son-in-law Justin's birthday! We hope it's a great one, Justin. You're the best!

Engagement News!

Well, our middle son is engaged! Luke asked Jill to marry him a couple of weeks ago on June 28th. We are thrilled!

Luke met Jill on Saturday morning and sent her on a scavenger hunt of sorts. He had a half dozen Hallmark cards at different places which included the Wrigleyville church office where they met at a Journey's class,

Pinky Nail Studio, where she got a manicure and pedicure

and ended up at her final stop at the church where Jill found her Luke!

Luke "took a knee" as he puts it and asked Jill to be his partner in life forever.

She said yes!

They celebrated with brunch at Southport Grocery ...

...and later that night with friends.

The wedding is planned for June 27, 2009. Jill and Luke have already made lots of plans. Jill starts a new job this year as an Assistant Principal so she is trying to get as much accomplished toward the wedding planning while she is still off this summer.

Today is Independence Day and the inaugural day of our posting to this blog!

I wanted a way to update family and friends on what's going on in our lives, the exciting and the mundane!

Today, I went a little crazy. I decided to cook, which in itself is a phenomenon. But it was a holiday and I decided I would cook a very Southern meal. I guess it came about because I came across a blog that caught my attention and spurred me on! If you want to check it out: http://homesicktexan.blogspot.com.

I decided to fry chicken and fix all that goes with it. Keep in mind, I haven't fried anything in probably close to twenty years! But it sounded good and it just felt right.

With the chicken we had mashed potatoes and cream gravy, macaroni and cheese, fresh green beans and fresh peach pie for dessert.

D.T., bless his heart, hopped up as soon as we were finished and cleaned up. We kind of have an unspoken agreement that whoever doesn't cook does the clean up. We had it knocked out in no time.

Now we are watching a great movie, "The Love of the Game" with Kevin Costner and Kelly Preston with Dub and Mosley. The neighbors are shooting off fireworks. Perfect!

It was a lot of work but it was a great day. I hope you enjoyed your Independence Day as much!
